How to Reset Toshiba Laptop to Factory Settings?

Hello Friends!

My Toshiba laptop was performing quite well and was fully satisfied with its performance but before some days my son did a few settings to the laptop and since then my computer is not running well.

Now it’s behaving abnormally and some applications like Office and antivirus apps are not responding.

I was trying to reset the laptop to the factory sett5ing but not got success because I have no proper idea to do so.

Please help me to reset the laptop and resolve this issue as early as possible. Please help!

Hi Alexis!

I have the perfect solution for your problem through which you can overcome your issue easily. You just need to perform the steps given below:

•   Go to Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.
•   Now the Disk Creator window will open.
•   Now the count of required DVD’s will be indicated as well as their format.

Create Recovery Discs: After equipping with the disc (s) needed and after choosing if you want to check drives, you can switch to burning.

•   Tap the create button at the bottom right.
•   Now you will see a message asking you to insert a disc and the supported formats. Therefore, insert your DVD and tap OK.
•   Now the burning begins, a loading bar indicates the process of the operation.
•   And if you checked the verify box, the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator will check the DVDs individually once inscribed.
•   If you were asked many disks, then you will have to insert them as the operation progresses.
•   Verification and engraving, message will display to indicate the operation is finished.

Using the Recovery Partition: For restoring your laptop to its factory settings, follow the steps given below:

Warning: Entire data on the hard drive will be erased so that back up any important data before proceeding. Ensure the PC is connected to a power supply and don’t switch it off or restart during the process.

•   Firstly press and hold down the power button for ten seconds to switch off your system.
•   Now press and hold the zero key and at the same time, press the power button once to switch on your computer.
•   When the computer starts beeping, just release the zero key.
•   When prompted through the warning display, choose Yes to continue with the system recovery.
•   Now choose Recovery of Factory Defaults Software and tap Next.
•   Choose Recover to out-of-box state and tap Next again.
•   Now tap Next to start the recovery.

Using the Recovery Discs: If the methods mentioned above doesn’t work then try this one. To do the restore, you will require the restore DVD (s) you created above.

Boot on DVD/CD

•   Turn on your PC.
•   When the BIOS message displays, press F12 key this will allow selecting on what to boot.
•   Boot menu displays, insert your DVD (# 1 if you have more than one disc). Choose CD/DVD by using the UP/Down keys on your keyboard and then press Enter.
•   Windows will loads the essential files on your DVD.
•   If you have rightly changed the boot sequence, then you should get two options, “Start Windows normally” and “Perform a System restore”.
•   Select for the latter and follow the on screen instructions to back to your computer to its original state.
Restore to Factory Settings:
•   After booting from the DVD, and loading the files, you get to the start window of the restoration which will permit you to select the language of it. Then tap Next.
•   A window displays, letting you to select the installation, Windows XP / Vista 32bit and 64bit. (Option available on certain models). In such case this option is not available; you will not have a choice. Then tap on Next.
•   A warning message displays, that your hard disk will be completely erased. Confirm with OK.
•   File copying begins. If your restoration has many DVD, you will have to insert them in the proper order during the process.

At the end of the operation your computer will turn off. You will require to start it again to configure the settings.
